Spesso la provincia americana, un leviatano informe e dormiente fatto di riti, strade, e case tutte uguali, sputa fuori artisti che dalla noia e dalla ripetizione immaginano e creano realtà parallele, mondi sommersi che scuotono anche chi si trova all'altro capo del mondo. Trevor Powers, in arte Youth Lagoon, 20enne dell' Idaho, non riuscendo ad uscire dalla sua cameretta per le continue crisi di panico, e non potendosi più pagare la terapia, scrive canzoni semplici, minimaliste, un po' noiose e infantili forse, ma che vanno dritte al punto. Necessarie a Trevor per uscire dall'ibernazione (The Year of Hibernation è il titolo dell'album) e a noi per fermarci un istante a pensare.

It's often the American hinterland, that formless, slumbering leviathan of streets and houses that all look alike, that produces artists who imagine parallel realities beyond the boredom and repetitiousness. These submerged worlds resonate to the other side of the planet. Trevor Powers, known as Youth Lagoon, a 20-years-old from Idaho, was unable to leave his room because of recurrent panic attacks. Unable to afford therapy, he wrote simple, minimalist songs that may seem boring and childish but get right to the point. His album, The Year of Hibernation, was a necessary passage for Trevor, and gives us pause for thought.
